The Foundation works with institutions to identify and help young artists who have the talent and dedication to devote their lives to the arts. We provide scholarships, fellowships, internships and support for mentoring. We also require that our sponsorship recipients design and carry out activities to “pay it forward” to give back to their community.

Our support is currently limited to students in Hong Kong and China, and we accept applications from institutions rather than individuals.

Sidekick Theatre Festival by On & On Theatre

The Festival aims to provide opportunities for Hong Kong theatre practitioners to form teams to create original and experimental theatre productions. Public performances will take place from June to July 2009.

The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Orchestral Fellowships

These fellowships give outstanding young string musicians from mainland China and Hong Kong the opportunity to apprentice with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in order to gain orchestral skills and experience as they embark on careers as professional musicians.

In a report by Jenny Cook to the Australia Council in 2008, titled National Orchestral Training Pathways, the Fellowships were mentioned as one of the seven international best-practice approaches to orchestral training, the only representative from Asia.

Beginning with the 2009/2010 season, The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Orchestral Fellowships will be opened to outstanding young Chinese string musicians worldwide.

The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Scholarships for Outstanding Merit

The Foundation provides full scholarships annually for six outstanding young musicians entering the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts. The scholarships are given for the duration of the course in each of the departments of the music school, namely keyboard, strings, wind instruments, voice, Chinese music and composition.

City Literary Festival

The Foundation has supported the City Literary Festival since 2007, aiming to enhance enthusiasm for Chinese literary writing among talented young authors in Hong Kong and Macao.

The Foundation supported particularly the symposium and exchange forum. We hope to bring lasting inspiration to the young talents by providing them with a lively platform to interact, discuss and learn from a distinguished panel of local and overseas writers.
