The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Appoints
New Chairman and Deputy Chairman

The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation announces the appointments of a new Chairman and Deputy Chairman of its Board of Directors. The new configuration takes the Ho Family’s philanthropic tradition into its fourth generation.

As Founder and Chairman for the past four years, Mr. Robert H. N. Ho established and rapidly expanded the Foundation, both in its Hong Kong home base and internationally. As the Foundation enters its fifth year, Mr. Ho will continue to guide it as Founder. But he will pass the Chairman’s position to Ms. Caroline Pfohl-Ho, former President of the Foundation

At its Annual General Meeting in March this year, the Board of Directors appointed Ms. Pfohl-Ho and Mr. Kevin Yau Kwong Ho as Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively. Under their leadership, the board will continue with its mission of fostering Chinese arts and culture through creative education programmes, as well as deepening contemporary society’s understanding of Buddhism. Ms. Pfohl-Ho and Mr. Y. K. Ho will guide the board’s work into its next phase, which focuses on the development of creative arts education programmes, and Intersections projects that explore ties between Buddhism and the arts.

In arts education, the Foundation is putting resources into Through Our Eyes and Get It Write! to develop a new advanced curricula, as well as larger public events and programs. It will also see the full launch of Leap!, which is scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2009.

As part of Intersections, the Foundation presents this spring The Many Faces of Buddhism to raise public awareness about Buddhism and advance discussion about what role Buddhism can play in today’s world. A series of arts and cultural events will be held in London in April and May 2009, to coincide with the opening of the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Gallery of Buddhist sculpture at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Key programmes include an International Forum on Buddhism and the Arts Today, A Day of Rare Buddhist Dances and an International Buddhist Film Festival.

“Caroline and Kevin are true visionaries,” said Mr. Robert H. N. Ho. “Their experience and perspective are invaluable to the Foundation and its beneficiaries.”

Ms Caroline Pfohl-Ho inaugurated the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation in 2005 and since its inception has served as its President. After graduating with a BA from Wellesley College, she received an MSc from the London School of Economics and an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She has worked in business and non-governmental organizations, including the United Nations and the Economist Intelligence Unit. Ms. Pfohl-Ho also served as a strategic planning professional for multi-national corporations. Under Ms. Pfohl-Ho’s leadership, the Foundation created and launched a number of internationally recognized creative arts programmes in Hong Kong and Mainland China. She also serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations including Survivor Corps and IMT Global Health. An active exhibiting photographer, she was trained in photography and digital image-making at the University of Hawaii.

Mr. Kevin Yau Kwong Ho hails from Hong Kong and has a Juris Doctor from the Southwestern University School of Law. He currently serves on the board of the Tung Lin Kok Yuen, Canada Society, a non-profit organisation that promotes Buddhist philosophy and education. Mr. Y. K. Ho has been on the board of the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation since its inception. With a longstanding interest in visual and contemporary art, environmental issues and education, Mr. Y. K. Ho will further develop the Foundation’s programmes in Britain and Europe.
